Environmental Targets

As part of our Waste Management and Environmental Policy, DBM set annual environmental objectives and targets and are committed to a programme of continuous improvement in environmental performance. These targets are regularly reviewed and form part of our assessment for ISO 14001:2015

2022/23 Environmental Improvement Targets

To combine the Register of Environmental Legislation and Compliance Obligations with the Environmental Evaluation of Compliance.
To publish our annual Environmental Improvement targets and successes via the company website.
To undertake a review of all authorised waste contractors for environmental compliance, competitive lift costs, increased waste streams and improved carbon footprint.
To monitor energy consumption (Gas, Electricity and Water), with installation of smart meters where possible.
To source a competitively priced, fixed-term, energy plan (Electricity) for Unit 8, with effect from 1st July 2023.
To commission at TM44 five year inspection of the air conditioning at unit 7, with a combined cooling capacity exceeding 12 kw.
To dispose of redundant Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), in line with company policy.
To document the product life cycles of our envelope and paper products, in order to reduce our environmental impacts, taking into account services, supply chains and how products and services are developed.
To continue to monitor product packaging for plastic packaging tax compliance. tem
To commission a further feasibility study into the viability of installing solar panels.

2021/22 Environmental Improvement successes

2 x EASEE EC001-22KW electric car charge units installed April 2022, to encourage both clients and staff to consider purchasing electric vehicles. Review of all recycled waste contractors for environmental compliance, competitive lift costs, increased waste streams and improved carbon footprint – terms agreed with general waste contractor for the period 1/4/22 – 31/3/23. Appointment of new recycled waste contractor March 2022. Monthly monitoring of energy consumption. Sourced a competitively priced, fixed-term, three-year energy plan for Electricity at unit 7, commencing October 2021, representing a cost saving in both daily standing charge and unit rate. Implications of Plastic Packaging tax implemented 2022 thoroughly researched, with product packaging for plastic packaging tax compliance regularly reviewed.
